Research and development projects called for from within institute

With the aim of training research staff and opening up new research areas, JASRI calls for research and development projects from within the institute in order to help such projects obtain competitive external research funds.

JASRI President's Fund Research Program (since FY2016)

This program has been established by integrating the “GIGNO Project” and the “Takumi Project” in a constructive manner to promote excellent research and development projects that will contribute to the maximization and improvement of research achievements obtained at SPring-8/SACLA.

List of approved proposals

SOLUTUS Project (from FY2013 through FY2015)

This project was a “problem-driven research project” aimed at devising new strategic research areas that will open up unprecedented possibilities of the use of SPring-8-II.
*SOLUTUS is the Latin word for “solution”.

GIGNO Project (from FY2007 through FY2015)

This project was a “challenge-type research project” to discover the unique ideas of young researchers and to develop the needs/seeds of advanced research that will contribute to the advancement of research at SPring-8.
*GIGNO is the Latin word for “source”, “beginning”, and “being born”.

GIGNO Project Supporting New Research Area Creation (from FY2011 through FY2015)

This project supported to hold workshops aimed at creating new research area at SPring-8/SACLA.

TAKUMI Project (from FY2012 through FY2015)

This project was aimed at discovering innovative and effective research that will lead to future SPring-8 upgrading project based on the original ideas of young and mid-career researchers, and contributing to the operation of SPring-8.
