JASRI President's Fund Research Program

1. What is the JASRI President's Fund Program?
This program intends to promote budding/challenging research aimed at maximizing research results or upgrading/improving of SPring-8/SACLA.

2. Invited Research
All research fields in which research staff are involved.

3. Application Requirements
Applicants must be JASRI's research staff[1].

4. Maximum Number of Acceptable Research Proposals
Up to 4 proposals will be selected.

5. Budget/Use
Up to 3,000,000yen will allocate per proposal. It might be split into the current fiscal year and the next fiscal year. It will be used for equipment/supplies/travel expenses, and conference participation fees, etc. It allows covering travel expenses for research activities of overseas facilities, etc., however, the limit is up to 500,000 yen.

6. Research Term[2]
For 1 year: from July 1 of the current year to June 30 of the following year.

7. Selection Process
There are two steps: 1) document screening, and then 2) interview (oral presentation)[3].

8. Reviews[4]
1) Interim Review will be held around February of the following year to check the progress by the review committee.
2) Post Project Review will be held around September of the following year by the review committee.

[1] Permanently hired researchers/technicians/tenure-track researchers.

[2] It may be extended when the review committee deems it necessary.

[3] It will be open to all JASRI staff. (Evaluating session after the oral presentation is closed.)

[4] Both of reviews will be open to all JASRI staff. (Evaluating session after the oral presentation is closed.)
