Establishment of contact desk for concerns regarding fraudulent use of competitive research funds

In accordance with the Guidelines for Managing and Auditing Public Research Funds at Research Institutions (Implementation Standards) (adopted on February 15, 2007, by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and the Guidelines for Responding to Misconduct in Research (adopted on August 26, 2014, by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), JASRI has established a contact desk for concerns regarding misconduct in research and the fraudulent use of public competitive research funds such as Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research. The details are as follows.

Points to note before reporting concerns

  • This consultation desk deals with concerns regarding the fraudulent use of competitive research funds by those who are affiliated with JASRI Note).
  • Upon the receipt of concerns, the whistleblower will be asked to provide information about the researcher or group that is suspected of fraudulent use, the form of fraudulent use, reasonable grounds for suspecting fraudulent use, and the competitive research fund used so that JASRI can investigate the issue.
  • After the issue is examined by the committee, the informant will be notified of investigation policies. The informant may be asked to cooperate with the investigation. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential.

Note) Those who are affiliated with JASRI include those who are carrying out research while indicating that they are affiliated with JASRI (co-researcher, etc.) as well as full-time or part-time staff members of JASRI.
