Maintenance, operation, and management of SPring-8
JASRI is commissioned by RIKEN to maintain, operate, and manage SPring-8.
Experiments are supported by providing a stable supply of synchrotron radiation
- Improvement of performance of storage ring
- Stored current held constant through top-up operation
- Improvement of emittance (improvement of brightness of light sources) from 6.3 nmrad (1999) → 2.4 nmrad (2013)
- Improvement of light converging optical systems (to achieve 100 nm beams)
- Provision of some of the services concerning radiation safety management
- Downtime reduced to 0.5% or less
